Mahama Marks Anniversary of Election Victory, Pledges to Continue ‘Resetting Ghana’ Agenda

Accra, Ghana – President John Dramani Mahama on Today, Monday marked the first anniversary of his election victory on December 7, reflecting on the historic vote and renewing his commitment to the nation.

In a statement released by the Presidency Communications, President Mahama expressed profound gratitude to Ghanaians who participated in the election, stating that the nation “spoke with one powerful voice” a year ago. He recalled the anxiety, hope, and unwavering faith of the millions who queued to vote, emphasizing their determination to “reclaim our future.”

The President specifically thanked the electorate for believing in the #ResettingGhana agenda and trusting the collective vision to ‘Build the Ghana We Want.’ He paid tribute to the rank and file of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), calling them the “heartbeat of this victory,” and singled out the polling agents who acted as the party’s “own referees.” He noted that the strategy of deploying vigilant agents was necessary to “demobilise the plans of the Electoral Commission and neutralise the ruling NPP’s calculated attempts to subvert the will of the people.”

Mahama also offered praise, or “ayekoo,” to the various party executives and teams—including election management, communications, operations, strategy, and campaign—for their pre-election strategies and unshakeable election-day tactics that anticipated every move and ensured the voice of the people prevailed.

Concluding his message, President Mahama renewed his pledge to build a Ghana for ALL citizens, without discrimination, exclusion, or favouritism, asserting that The Ghana We Want is a “promise in progress.” He affirmed that his commitment to the #ResettingGhana agenda remains steadfast, and he, along with Vice President Nana Jane and the government, will continue working daily to create opportunities, restore hope, and rebuild trust in state institutions.

He encouraged the NDC family to hold tight, assuring them their ultimate reward lies not just in positions but in delivering a Ghana where justice prevails, hard work is rewarded, and their children will have opportunities.
